The Daniel Fast

A friend of mine mentioned this fast to me and I did some research on it and it really appeals to my spirit. Most of the information I got was from www.danielfast.wordpress.com . It is more of a partial fast. Daniel did not stop eating, he just abstained from the King's food. He ate vegetables and drank water for 10 days and the King saw that he was healthier than the rest of the men who had been eating whatever they wanted. Fasting can be such a deep, intimate time with God in prayer.

At our church this past Sunday our pastor was talking about prayer. It should be where we start and where we end. If there is anything we want to do or anywhere we want to go it needs to begin with prayer.

Our pastor has also been talking about living an empowered or an abundant life in the Lord. He quoted a friend of his,

"Don't go chasing rainclouds--DIG A WELL!" --Dick Iverson

So how do we dig a well that releases the rivers within?

SOW THE SPIRIT
1. Receive Jesus (John 3:16; Romans 8:14-17)
2. Be baptized in the Holy Spirit
(Acts 2:4, 32, 33, 39; 8:12-17; 10:44-46; 19:2,5,6)
3. Be a worshipper in Spirit and in truth, both corporately and privately
(John 4:24)
4. Pray in the Spirit
(Jude 20)
5. Renew our minds
(Romans 12:2)
6. Fasting
(Matthew 6:16-18; Nehemiah 1:4; Daniel 9:3)
7. Keep connected with the body of Christ
(Hebrews 10:24-25)
8. Get yourself out where there are needs
(Luke 6:31, 35-36; Philippians 2:4;
Romans 15:2; James 1:27)
